We’ve been hosting ad-hoc pottery classes since 2011. This has developed into a more established pottery studio during 2014. The Great British Pottery Throwdown on the BBC has sparked a renewed interest in pottery for many people. Our aim is to provide a fun, high quality pottery experience in West London.
We collaborate with ceramic artists and designers to teach the pottery, clay and ceramics classes. Currently Kite Studios is working with James Duck, Sevak Zargarian and Christopher Riggio.
James holds an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art. In James’s own words: “I make things. Often clay things. My practice occupies a space in and between conceptual art, craft, design and sculpture. I make various objects. Some functional. Some expressive. Some conceptual. But all the objects I make come from, and in one way or another, play a role in a larger ideological agenda.”
Sevak is a graduate of Central St. Martins with a B.A in Ceramic Design, is passionate about material exploration. He recently created stunning lamps for Heals, the home furnishing store. Sevak was also shortlisted for the 2015 Homes & Gardens Designer award.
Chris also has an MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art. He hails from Montreal, Canada, where he graduated with a BA in Fine Art, with a major in Sculpture. Chris has a passion for ceramic design and focuses on making tools, jewellery and robotic ceramic items.
We have a dedicated area for pottery, clay modelling, and kiln firing. Glazes, clay and associated tools are provided.
Weekly Pottery Classes
We run weekly term time classes for adults, covering techniques from hand building, throwing on a wheel to glazing and kiln firing.
Bring a team from your company or organisation for a day out exploring clay and the art of ceramics. We offer bespoke workshops for team building activities. No jokes about being the next Patrick Swayze please!
