What we do
Children and young people interested in sewing, fashion, and textiles will love this course.
They will learn how to use an electric sewing machine as well as hand stitching skills. They will also have access to our heat press, laser cutter, screen printing and etching press. Use of our printmaking facilities generates endless possibilities of creative results.
We start with a theme, use a work book to develop ideas and record progress of skills, research and exploration. By the end of term each child finishes with a rewarding piece. Past projects have included skirts, bags, cushions and sewing kits. Boys welcome too!
At Kite Studios we are firm in the belief that sewing is a skill for life. The course will see learners engage with many different textures and patterns. This course offers an engaging way for students to learn a tangible skill that can be used for the rest of their lives, be it as a hobby or as part of their profession.
For those interested, we are also trained as an Arts Award Centre which some children choose to pursue as a framework for achieving a certificate by the end of the year from Discover level to Bronze, Silver and Gold (Trinity College Arts Awards).

The course price includes all materials.
At Kite Studios, we offer one-off trial classes for anyone who would like to come along to try one class before deciding whether to commit to the entire course.
