Play with Clay on Friday Evenings

Discover the tactical material of clay and be part of our ever evolving creative community  here at Kite Studios,  join us on an evening of therapeutic play with clay, wellbeing, and socializing. We encourage participants to focus more on the process, particularly if you are new to the wheel, and practice the art of letting go. This includes a cup of tea and mindful start to prepare for centering at the wheel ,  demonstrations and cleaning up.

Our approach is about sustainability and environmentally friendly practices and processes, and therefore we encourage recycling of  clay.
Sessions involve :

• Best studio practice
• Preparation of clay
• Learning how to throw pots on the wheel(We encourage beginners to focus  on centering)
• Handbuilding techniques

Each week 8 wheels will be available for participants to develop their throwing skills. We will be using Earthenware Terracotta Clay. For those interested in more sustained practice and studio pottery skills development  , you are welcome to book individual studio time which can be arranged either with or without a facilitator.

Please note, that firing is not included. However, it can be done at an additional cost. £20 for two pieces;  a bisque and glaze firing . Maximum size 20x20cm

What you need to bring: A plastic box to store your work, apron and towel (They can be hired at an extra cost of £2 each for the towel and apron).

Clay can get messy, so it is advisable that you were comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting messy.

Not to have jewellery on your hands and wrists as well as having short nails so they don’t get in the way of your work.

Please note it is not the Studios responsibility for any lost or damaged jewellery.
